Bill Scheyer President of Vision Shares Vision of myNKY

“Be part of crafting your community’s future!”  is the message from Bill Scheyer, President of Vision 2015.  Bill and his team are responsible for the implementation of Northern Kentucky’s ten year strategic plan, and he shared exciting updates at a recent Florence Rotary Club meeting.   Scheyer has been active in promoting economic impact in river cities, and served as city administrator for the City of Erlanger for more than 18 years.  He is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, and an alumnus of Leadership Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati Regional Leadership Forum.

According to Scheyer, the visioning process began 30 years ago, with input from multiple stakeholders over the years.  He said, “Now, we are writing and developing the next phase of Northern Kentucky’s community development plan, and we really need your opinions and suggestions.”  Their goal is to get 10,000 responses from area residents regarding the hopes, dreams, wants and needs of the community.

Vision 2015 has created several opportunities for the public to participate.  The website www.mynky.org includes stories and video, an interactive game, polls, challenge questions, and ways to volunteer.  Vision 2015 will also help small groups host a “Power Breakfast” complete with marketing materials to help people learn more about the process and capture their ideas.  Said Scheyer, “We want the broadest reach throughout our nine county area for this important visioning quest.”

Areas of focus include health and wellness, transportation, education, jobs and housing.  Concluded Scheyer, “Great communities don’t happen by accident.  Make your voice heard!”
