The Rotary Club of Florence, Kentucky is organized into teams.  Each team is responsible for various activities of the club.  Please review the list of teams below and let the Club Secretary know which team you would like to participate.

Team leads are responsible for communicating dates and information to Team 3 – Media & PR 

Team 1 – Community Engagement and Honors 

The Community Service: Events, Honors & Holidays Team is responsible for identifying and organizing club-based events for the entire Club to help implement.

Members:  Roger Babik, Paul Feuse, Pat Gutzeit, Dennis McEvoy, Josh Quinn, Pat Raverty, Gary Wilmhoff

  • Teacher of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Steinford Toy Drive
  • Annual Golf Outing
  • Ohio River Sweep
  • First Responders Recognition
  • Organize Memorial Day with City of Florence and Veterans
  • Boone County Fair-Coordinates volunteers and assisting with collection of entrance fee
  • Coordinate opportunities for members to serve our community – coordinates and promotes the tracking of time/talent/treasure in dacDB

Team 2 – Resources/Fundraising

The Community Service Fundraising Team is responsible for identifying and organizing community-based projects for the entire Club to help implement.

Team Lead:  Ian Addington & Jim Ferguson
Members:  Gary Griesser, Leon Sample, Brad Shipe, Gary Stewart, Peter Weickgenannt, Mark Willoughby

  • Annual Rotary Concerts
  • Raffles/Auctions
  • Suggests and coordinates other fundraising ideas
  • Foundation Dinner
  • Coordinates club merchandising
  • Develops opportunities for sponsorship of club activities and meetings as additional revenue sources
  • Coordinates Clay Shoot
  • Establish a signature Rotary Club of Florence annual event

Team 3 – Rotary Awareness

The team will focus on increasing awareness of Rotary programs through media exposure.

Team Lead:  Open
Members:  Will Baker, Neville Buchanan, Brad Hamblen, Carrie Herrmann, Tim Herrmann, Ed Massey, Julie Pile, Matt Webster

  • Writes news/press releases of upcoming club events and sends to media and posts on social media presences
  • Writes follow-up articles from club events and sends to media and posts on social media presences
  • Prepares meeting slide decks
  • Coordinates audio visual and live streaming of club events
  • Posts club information on website blog
  • Maintains club’s website and calendar
  • Posts events on Enquirer and NKY Tribune calendars
  • Writes and distributes newsletter
  • Provides photography at club events
  • Maintains club’s social media presences
  • Develops club marketing assets

Team 4 – Membership & Social Events

The Club Service: Membership & Meeting Team will focus on recruitment and retention of members,  Strengthening fellowship among club members through social activities.

Members:  Susan Annear, Joe Bailey, Dottie Dotson, Wayne Hartke, Janey McEntyre, Michelle Owen, Mary Price

  • Enters visitors into dacDB as potential members
  • New member orientation and engagement
  • Mentorship program
  • Create recruitment campaigns/events
  • Assists secretary in maintenance and organization of member name tags
  • Create and maintain membership engagement program
  • Coordinates club social events
  • Promote Rotary learning opportunities and resources to members
  • Promotes the tracking/reporting of time/talent/treasure in dacDB

Team 5 – International Service

The International Service Team will focus on promoting the efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding of peace.

Team Lead:  Greg Palmer
Members:  Michael Crane, Blair Fields, Ed Monohan, Randy Poe, Billy Santos, John Schickel, Whitney Stith

  • Organizing and presenting the Annual Paul Harris Dinner,
  • Conducting Every Rotarian Every Year Campaign
  • Conduit for potential participation in global grants with other clubs
  • World Polio Day Awareness & Celebration
  • Founder’s Day Awareness & Celebration

Team 6 – Next Generations

The New Generations Team will recognize positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership and development activities. This team will identify and organize projects that promote the Club’s outreach and influence in local schools.

Members:  Don Aaron, Mark Looy, Cathy Stavros, Jordan Dallas Turner, Matt Turner

  • Coordinates and supports the Interact Club
  • Scholarship applications and interviews for students in Boone County
    • Enters scholarship recipient information as potential members in dacDB
  • Communicates school needs for Senior Exit Interviews to the club
  • Youth Exchange Program
  • Supports and encourages students to attend RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
  • Annual Fishing Trip

Team 7 – Programs/Meetings

The goal of the committee is to coordinate the organization of programs for the club.

Team Lead:  Don Volland
Members:  Joshua Batchelor, Jacob Brooks, Joseph Mashni, Gary Moore, Marcus Zillman

  • Coordinates Day in Frankfort
  • Coordinates Speaker Schedule
  • Sends calendar appointments to speakers for their dates (send through Rotary Google account)
  • Secures and coordinates collection of information from speakers, writes meeting announcement and forward to PR Team
  • Coordinates team rotation of greeting, prayer-inspiration-reflection, pledge and 4Way Test
  • Custodian of club and other flags to be displayed at meetings
  • Coordinates any sign-ups which are necessary
  • Coordinates meal arrangements
  • Connects speakers to meeting AV coordinator
  • Adds speakers to dacDB as potential members
  • Coordinates speaker gifts or donations in speaker’s name – for the 2023-2024 club year, this will be to purchase a children’s book for donation to a school library
  • Sends follow-up Thank You Note and Invitation to join the club to speakers
