Eastern Kentucky Disaster Relief Fund

From our District Governor Seema Sachdeva:

Catastrophic flooding has caused loss of life and devastating property damage across several counties of Eastern Kentucky. Governor Andy Beshear has signed a state of emergency, describing this as an event that will take “likely years for many families to rebuild and recover from.”
True to our mission of “Service About Self”, Rotary International District 6740 and my home club of Pikeville extends our deepest condolences to the families affected by loss and offers our full support towards several initiatives supporting those in need.
I want to thank you all for reaching out to me with your willingness to help. I am so grateful to all Rotarians and our friends who have come forward to lend a helping hand. All offers of assistance are tremendously appreciated.
If you would like to send monetary donations, please mail your checks to
Pikeville Rotary Club Eastern Kentucky Disaster Relief Fund
PO Box 988
Pikeville, KY 41502
These funds would be used for immediate disaster relief for the affected families as decided by a group of local Rotarians.
The fund is being set up as a 501(c)(3) account with our Pikeville Community Foundation (local chapter of Foundation of Appalachian Kentuky).
Many of you have reached out to me regarding bringing relief supplies to the area.
We have reached out to our County Judge Executive, Ray Jones, regarding the logistics and distribution of relief supplies in Pike County. I will also make available the information regarding distribution centers in other affected counties including Floyd, Perry, Breathitt, Magoffin, Letcher, and Knott County as they become available.
The details of the staging areas for such supplies are still being worked out, and I will communicate them to you as soon as those details are available.
We will inform you regarding volunteering opportunities as we rebuild our communities.
Please feel free to share this email with other Rotarians and leadership from other Districts as well as Friends of Rotary.

Please keep those impacted in your prayers. The people of Appalachia are very resilient and would emerge much stronger from this event.

Rakesh and I want to thank you all for your generosity and kindness!

Together we serve!
