Reading With a Child: One of the Greatest Gifts You Can Give Them

President Julie Pile recently had the privilege of sharing with Oakbrook Living Magazine how she passed on her love of reading to her children through the simple act of reading to and with them. And how, with her children grown, she, and many others, help to pass on that love of reading to a younger generation through the Northern Kentucky Education Council One to One Reading/Northern Kentucky program. It is a lot of fun spending 30 minutes a week reading with a young person, and is rewarding. She loves that her fellow Rotarians, through the Rotary Club of Florence, Kentucky – serving all of Boone County, have embraced it, too. She hope the article inspires more people to volunteer to be reading coaches, and share a bit of their time and their joy in reading with youngsters

If you would like to bring One to One to your school or district, reach out to program director Polly Page (ppage@nkyec.org).
