Please join The Rotary Club of Florence, Kentucky on Monday, March 25th at noon as we hear from Dr. Kathleen S. Jagger who is serving as Acting President of Thomas More University after serving for three years as Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College.  Dr. Jagger has spent most of her nearly 40 year career in higher education. She earned her bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in zoology, and then a PhD in microbiology from the University of Cincinnati. After teaching for more than 20 years, she took a sabbatical to complete a Master’s degree in Public Health at Harvard in order to develop new programs for students.

She began her academic career at Wright State Medical School. Later she was clinical research program director at ProMedica Health System in Toledo, Ohio where she trained physician researchers on ethical conduct of research.  She has lead teams of students and professionals on public health and clinical service- learning projects working shoulder to shoulder with underserved populations in the Southern U.S., Guatemala, Philippines, U.S. Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic. As a professor she has taught and published primarily in the areas of cellular, molecular and microbiology, public & global health, and bioethics. She has been recognized by the University of Kentucky as a “Teacher who Made a Difference”, by the American Society for Microbiology as a Scholar in Residence and Foundation Lecturer, as an Eli Lilly Faculty Fellow, and as a Bingham Fellow for Excellence in Teaching.

She and her husband, Dr. James Jagger, have been married for 41 years and have two sons and two grandsons.

With her focus on financial strength, innovation, inclusive excellence, global awareness, and the introduction of new mission focused programs, Dr. Jagger is eager to continue to leading the university towards growth for a sustainable future.
