Join the Rotary Club of Florence, serving all of Boone County (@FlorenceRotary), on Monday, December 11, 2023 at noon as we hear from Christian Dallas, painter and muralist, discussing all the steps necessary for completing a large-scale mural, from design to the final clear coat, as well as touching on the positive effects public art has on a community.

Christian Dallas is a contemporary painter and muralist who works in Cincinnati, OH. Upon receiving his BFA in painting from Northern Kentucky University, Christian began to experiment with the large format of mural painting. Observing the unique scale of each wall and its surroundings, Christian uses the many different elements of design and painting technique to create a unique and thoughtful work of art that intends to complement its urban surroundings.

Since 2012, Christian has worked with Artworks of Cincinnati designing, painting, assisting with, and installing over 20 murals. In 2017 Christian was selected to design and lead a team to execute a mural on the front facade of Rookwood Pottery in Over the Rhine. In the fall of 2019 Christian worked with BLINK to design and paint a mural of Ralph Haile of the Haile foundation in Covington, KY.  This was one of many murals that featured at the BLINK festival that year. In the fall of 2021, Christian designed and led a team of 14 helping to paint a large-scale mural for CVG, spanning nearly 300 ft long by 20 ft high.

In his own artistic practice, Christian has produced over 25 murals around the Tri state area. In 2019, Christian painted and installed a “Cincinnati” themed mural for the office of David Bell, manager of the Cincinnati Reds. In the summer of 2021, Christian designed and painted a large-scale mural in the heart of downtown Lawrenceburg, IN, celebrating the town’s rich history.

Whether painting large or small, Christian is continuously exploring new aesthetic avenues in hopes of creating a more visually pleasing world, helping to unify those who live in it.
