2015 Pastor Appreciation Day

Pastors-Day-15
The people in the photo (L-R) are Tommy Baker, First Church executive pastor; Roger Babik, Master Provisions; Rhonda Hancock, First Church early childhood pastoral director; Darin Mirante, First Church Union campus pastor; Greg Marksberry, First Church senior pastor; and Gary Griesser, Griesser Music.

Roger Babik left Cincinnati Bell after a 17 year career to become a full time pastor.  He launched Master Provisions in 1994 as a Christian organization that connects resources like food and clothing to people in need locally, regionally and globally in cooperation with strategic mission partners.  Master Provisions also places orphans into Christian homes internationally through monthly sponsors. Babik plans and regularly leads international mission trips and manages outreach activities for orphan care, clothing ministries and Christian community development projects.

Babik urged the assembled Rotarians and faith leaders to focus on our similarities, not our differences.

First, he encouraged everyone to be united.  “Although there are many different denominations, we all share a centrality of faith, “he said.  “We can agree to respectfully disagree, but always work in love.”  Our goal should be connecting people to work together to serve the needs of others.

Second, he talked about the many people on earth who are struggling with hunger, disease and conflict. He asked, “How do we attempt to meet the needs of others?”  Rotary International’s efforts in global polio eradication are a perfect example of working together to serve the world.

Finally, Babik proposed that everyone live a God-centered existence.  The only way to bring this to earth is to simply focus on loving people.  Babik ended his comments with a call to action.   He said, “We must get involved in wrapping our arms around others. “
