The Rotary Club of Florence, Kentucky will be hearing from State Representative Kimberly Moser, Chair of the House Committee on Health and Family Services on Monday, September 16th.
“I am eager to speak with the Rotary about the importance of every Kentuckian’s health and well being. It is also critical that the public recognizes what should be expected of our healthcare system, and to strive for quality health protection,” said Rep. Moser.
Kim Moser, a resident of Taylor Mill, KY, is a registered nurse with many years of experience in Neonatal ICU and as a flight nurse for the UK Neonatal Transport Team. Her graduate work in Architecture lead to hospital design work and other construction projects.
Kim is the Immediate Past-President of the American Medical Association Alliance (2017-18), leading advocacy on health care and medical legislative issues nationally. She previously served as Chair of the Kentucky Physicians’ PAC, elected the first non-physician to chair a Physicians’ PAC in the nation. She is the founding director of the Northern Kentucky office of Drug Control Policy, working to eliminate the scourge of Heroin and Substance Abuse, and currently serves on the NKY Drug Policy Board.
Kim is passionate about Health Care and Medical Legislative issues and has been an effective advocate on local, state and national levels. In her second term in the State Legislature, serving the 64th House District in the Kentucky General Assembly, she currently chairs the House Health and Family Services Committee. She also serves on Judiciary, Licensing and Occupations, Education Committees, and Co-Chaired Medicaid Oversight and Advisory for two years. She has sponsored meaningful legislation, including HB 333 to cap opioid prescriptions and increase trafficking penalties in 2017, and works tirelessly to increase access to evidence-based treatment and quality health care. She is a leader on Mental Health and Addiction, Health Care and Criminal Justice policy.
Kim was the recipient of the AMA’s Belle Chenault Award for exemplary Legislative Advocacy, the 2018 Northern KY Henrietta Cleveland Inspiring Woman Award, the 2018 KY Medical Association’s Debra K. Best, Outstanding Layperson of the Year and 2018 Distinguished Public Service Award from the KY Psychological Association.
Kim and her husband Neal have been married 34 years and have five sons and two grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, boating and family adventures. They are avid hikers, having climbed to Mt. Everest Base Camp in Nepal and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
