On Monday, August 3, 2020 , the Rotary Club of Florence is honored to host Rotary District 6740 Governor James Glass.
James Glass has been a Rotarian since 2002 and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Past club leadership includes Club President (2009-2010). He has served and chaired several club committees and served as a member of the board for the Rotary Club of Pikeville. His District leadership includes Assistant Governor since 2013, and currently is the Youth Exchange Inbound Chair for District 6740. James served on the District Conference Committee for PDG Rakesh Sachdeva as well as the District Polio Plus Committee. James has been a facilitator for the last 4 years at the Mid-South PETS. In 2007 James had the privilege to be the GSE Team Leader for the Poland and Ukraine exchange. He currently serves on the US Heart 2 Heart Advisory Board for Zones 30 and 31. For over 33 years James has been married to Rachelle Glass, an Occupational Therapist with the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville Kentucky. Over the last several years, Rachelle and James have hosted 5 Long Term Rotary Youth Exchange Students, and 5 short term foreign students from various parts of the world. In addition, they hosted 4 different Rotary GSE Team members. In 2010 they attended the Rotary International Convention in Birmingham England. James and Rachelle have 2 very successful adult children and one beautiful grandson. James has been an officer and member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 2012, and is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Pike County KY Chamber of Commerce. James has served several organizations in his community such as Relay for Life, Appalachian SPCA, and Boy Scouts of America. He is also very active with his church family. James is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and is co-owner of an advanced manufacturing company located in Pikeville Kentucky.
