Commissioner Thomas B. Miller was speaker at the Florence Rotary Club the week October 29th. Commissioner Miller made it clear that the clock is ticking if you qualify and are interested in applying for Tax Amnesty. Those who have outstanding tax liability for the Periods Ending after 12/31/01 but prior to 10/1/2011 are eligible to apply. The application period is October 1 – November 30, 2012 if you wish to apply. Of importance: should you receive a letter from the state referring to Tax Amnesty and you do not believe that you owe taxes simply contact the number provided in the letter for help. Tax Amnesty is a limited-time opportunity for taxpayers to pay back taxes without penalties or fees and only half of the interest due. Taxpayers must file and pay in full all eligible and non-eligible tax periods.
