The Interact Club of Boone County is inviting all students who are interested in learning more about applying for scholarships to attend its 7PM February 24th meeting at Scheben library. According to Dan Bisig from College & Beyond, the evening’s presenter, there are too many scholarships that are never awarded because the potential recipients are not aware of them. Mr. Bisig believes that all students should be given the opportunity to explore their options. Please bring all your questions and enjoy the evening as a guest of the Interact Club.
Interact of Boone County is a community-based youth service group open to all persons ages 12 thru 18 in Northern Kentucky and sponsored by the Florence Rotary Club . Its meetings are held and the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of each month year round at Scheben library in Union. Their local service projects have included: playing cows in an equine therapy program, sorting clothes at a local clothing distribution warehouse, teaching local disadvantaged kids how to fish, serving meals at a soup kitchen, playing games with the clients of a teen shelter and removing trash and natural debris from the pathways and trails of a state park.
Last June the club organized an international service project to the Dominican Republic where they painted the homes of two elderly ladies in a remote village, served snacks and played basketball with students at a pre-school, distributed donated clothing to needy Dominicans, visited an orphanage and met with their Interact Dominican counterparts at its meeting. Another service trip to the Dominican is being planned for this summer.
There is NO charge for this event; however, seating is limited, therefore reservations are required. Please contact Barbara Rahn, Interact Advisor to reserve your space at (859)663-8984 as soon as possible.
