Rotary Seeking Professionals for One Month Study in France

The Florence Rotary Club, part of Rotary District 6740, is seeking young professionals to form a team that will visit Grenoble, France from March 19 to April 16, 2013.

Jack Lundy pays respects in Normandy.

Through Group Study Exchange, teams of young professionals from two different countries exchange visits.  In previous years, exchanges have included France, South Korea, India, and the Philippines.

For four weeks, the team (led by a Rotarian) will experience firsthand the way of life, customs, and vocational practices in France, while at the same times sharing information about their home community and state.  Team members are expected to make themselves available for presentations on the experience to Rotary clubs within the district, a presentation at the annual district conference, and to others within the community upon request following their return.

The purpose of Group Study Exchange is to promote international understanding and goodwill through personal connection.  While abroad, team members stay in Rotarians’ homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts.  They will also give presentations about Kentucky to Rotary clubs and other groups.

The Rotary Foundation provides round-trip airfare, while Rotarians in Grenoble will provide meals, lodging, and group travel within their district.  The only expenses to team members are those for personal and incidental expenses while traveling abroad.

Men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 who live and are employed full-time in professional occupations in any Kentucky county within Rotary District 6740 (most counties east of Interstate 75 and including northern Kentucky) are eligible.  Interested individuals should contact Florence Rotary President Brad Shipe at 859-282-7040 or by email at bradshipe@hotmail.com; District Group Study Exchange Chair Josephine Richardson at (606) 633-9637 or by email at chcafe@aol.com; Matt Jacobs at mhjacobs@hotmail.com; or William Banks at (606) 335-9212 or by email at william.m.banks@gmail.com.  More information, including the application, is available on the district website at http://www.kydistrict6740.org.    Please mail applications to Josephine Richardson at 127 Main Street-Whitesburg, KY 41858 or via email to chcafe@aol.com. Deadline for applications is Monday, October 8, 2012.

Rotary is an international organization of professional men and women who, for more than 100 years, have provided humanitarian service and worked to build goodwill and peace in the world.  There are more than 1.2 million Rotarians in service in some 200 countries worldwide.
