 Florence, Kentucky – November 4, 2021

The Rotary Club of Florence is ho-ho-happy to announce their partnership with Steinford’s Christmas Toy Drive this holiday season. George Steinford, founder of the Steinford Toy Drive, believed that “The Christmas spirit will fill a child’s heart in time of need.”  Over the years, Steinford is the reason this quote has come into fruition for thousands of children.

In 1932, money was tight for both George and his wife, Rose. The Great Depression had just set in and over a quarter of America was unemployed. Despite not having children of their own, the couple was determined to provide Christmas gifts for children who otherwise would not get any. The couple would purchase toys and then refurbish them. Their efforts made childrens’ holidays for many years and counting. When George Steinford died in 1980, he was at peace knowing his non-profit would continue for years to come.

In 2020, Best Way Disposal employees collected toys for Steinford Toy Drive.

The Steinford Toy Drive has lived on with magic and cheer. Last year was the most successful yet with 3,500 toys donated in total. Representative of Steinford Toy Drive, Tom Wiechman, states, “The Steinford program has been making Christmas for Northern Kentucky families for over 90 years.  The past few years, the Toy Program has been able to provide about 3,800 area children with Christmas toys each year.  The Rotary partnership has been a tremendous resource and has provided thousands of toys for the program over the years.” The Rotary Club of Florence is partnering with the Steinford Toy Drive to collect as many toys as possible for this Christmas.

Roger Babik, Rotary Club of Florence Project Chairperson of Master Provisions, says, “The Rotary Club of Florence is committed to leading the work to take ‘Kindness at Christmas’ to 4,000 children in Northern Kentucky by collecting toys for the Steinford Toy Foundation.  This outreach expresses our reason for the season – giving to others in need to express the love of Christ.  Hundreds of generous employees at area businesses donate toys to make this collaborative effort a resounding success!”

Rotary Club of Florence would like to personally thank Master Provisions and the organizations listed below for their charitable efforts this Christmas season. If your business or organization would like to be a part of the Steinford Toy Drive, please contact Roger Babik at (859)816-6087 or Roger@masterprovisoins.org.
